Committees
Citizens on Patrol
Citizens on Patrol are residents who after being screened and trained by the Cincinnati Police Department, patrol their communities acting as the eyes and ears of the police. They observe and report suspicious activity and/or crimes in progress.
The mission of the Mount Washington Citizens on Patrol is to work in partnership with the Cincinnati Police Department and in conjunction with fellow citizens to improve neighborhood quality-of-life, encourage civic pride and facilitate safety initiatives in our community.
Land Use and Zoning
The Mt. Washington Community Council Land Use and Zoning Committee helps residential, commercial and institutional property owners, as well as business owners, understand and comply with the City of Cincinnati Zoning Code. As part of that responsibility, the Committee works with permit applicants, upon their request, when they make changes and improvements to their property, so adherence to the Zoning Code is insured. In addition to providing guidance and education, the MWCC serves as the recognized official voice of the neighborhood when a property or business owner requires a zone change, conditional use approval or zoning variance from the City. The Committee reviews such matters and makes recommendations to the organization prior to a vote and report to the City.
Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee, comprised of Mt. Washington residents, identifies and plans for improvement opportunities within our neighborhood with the goals of producing long-lasting benefits throughout the community. The Committee’s aim is to bring interested parties together in order to implement the opportunity.
Cultural Arts
The Cultural Arts Committee develops community based arts programming through collaborations between Mt. Washington arts-related businesses and residents encouraging people to “spend time spending time in the Community”.
The committee seeks to utilize the arts as a means of community building and to enhance a sense of pride of place within the Mt. Washington neighborhood.
Neighborhood Improvement
The Neighborhood Improvement Committee (NIC) improves our community by addressing nuisance properties, increasing building safety, Identifying blighted property and removing graffiti in the Mt. Washington area.
We welcome interested residents to join this committee, which is doing great work in the area. Confidentiality is applied when joining this Committee.
